Don't waste hours like I did trying to resolve this problem. Microsoft Word's Help did not address this issue. Repairing Word did not fix this issue but probably needed to be done as I'm still using the 2010 version.
Here's how to recover your Status Bar in Word:
Click the View tab in the main menu.
Click Arrange All.
That's it! When searching Google, this tip did not appear on the first page load of results. I found it via a Microsoft Edge search.
